For me, it's living in this country that I learned how a foreigner feels and how to empathize Taiwan's new immigrants (e.g. "外籍新娘"). We, as Taiwan citizens, would not like foreigners to work without permission and take our jobs away. So it is natural for the US to do the same and it is bad for us to do on them what we don't like others do on us. Taiwan would even separate married couples, especially if one of them is from China. But I don't think the law is meaningful. Why those immigrants arrive 200 years ago can freely work and now those people cann't. Another example, by law, western medicine doctor can(have to??) do lots of things that's damage people's health. Maybe I'm liberal I thing we should live as freely as possible. and there lots of 'bad' laws. take it easy,
