Illegal work4

I have lived in California for 7 months. The single most unacceptable thing, to me, is the popularity of F1 students working illegally off-campus.

I fist arrived at the United States in 2005. I still remember how UF’s officials in the International Center emphasized that we were disallowed to work off-campus and the price we would pay if we were found to do so. Few international students worked off-campus then. Most of us never even thought about it.

Here in California, I know a bunch of (Chinese-speaking) students working off-campus, mostly in acupuncture clinics as assistants. “Where can I find a job” is among the first questions asked by incoming students.

How dare they are!

    take it easy,

I’m legally working in US. But I don’t think the law is meaningful.
Why those immigrants arrive 200 years ago can freely work and now those people cann’t.

Another example, by law, western medicine doctor can(have to??) do lots of things that’s damage people’s health. Maybe I’m liberal I thing we should live as freely as possible. and there lots of ‘bad’ laws.

    Hi ming,

Compared with Taiwan, and most other countries, American government and people is among the most foreigner-friendly ones in the world. For me, it’s living in this country that I learned how a foreigner feels and how to empathize Taiwan’s new immigrants (e.g. “外籍新娘”). We, as Taiwan citizens, would not like foreigners to work without permission and take our jobs away. So it is natural for the US to do the same and it is bad for us to do on them what we don’t like others do on us.

Taiwan would even separate married couples, especially if one of them is from China. This is generally not the case with America.

The comparison of eastern and oriental medicine is totally different.
