Family meeting0
This afternoon, my mom and I had a family meeting with my counselor J. Friend Y was with us to translate for my mom. Her presence was fantastic. Otherwise, I might be too emotional to translate. Plus, I really didn’t want my mom to have a feeling that my counselor and I allied to convince her. This was why I remained much quiet during the session.
It was a really nice meeting. My counselor was so great in making accurate statements about me and in understanding and empathizing a parent’s feeling. I have always believed, even before I started the transition, that it would be love and empathy that make our parent accept. Without patience and empathy, no persuasive arguments will really relieve their grief of the loss of a son and worry about their son’s future.
